Our Mission:
Ancient World 3D (AW3D) seeks to provide easy to use, open access 3D resources for everyone who loves the Classical World. The students who drive the project conduct research and annotate open access 3D models, that can then be downloaded for uses in VR or 3D printing.
Who We Are:
AW3D launched in February 2020 at IUPUI as a collaborative project of the Classical Studies Program (School of Liberal Arts) and the Center for Digital Studies (University Library). We started as a response to a need we felt in the virtual world. There are numerous wonderful online resources that provide open-access, crowd-sourced 3D models pertaining to the Classical World. The sheer abundance of models, however, can make it difficult to find a particular subject or learn more about the object that is being modeled.
AW3D seeks to help with this problem by curating models and providing more information about the Classical World. This site is a growing catalog of models and ancient objects: the models are posted on our Sketchfab site, with links to our catalog.
